So, I'm allergic to dogs. Sarah has always wanted a dog. So we got a very cute little miniature poodle, since they are supposed to be good for people with allergies. On the bright side, she doesn't bother me nearly as bad other dogs. Usually when I visit a dog-owner's house, I just walk in the door and the air feels thick. One day, my Brother-in-law and his wife Dezi were over with their chihuahua. The dog was there for only a few minutes, and the air started to thicken. So, poodles really are good for allergy sufferers.
The problems is that, while I don't feel like I'm having an allergic reaction, I've been wheezing a lot more. It's gotten to the point that I have to use my athsma inhaler twice or thrice a day. It was better when Molly didn't sleep in our room, but we can't leave the door shut, or we can't hear the boys if they wake up. Molly loves to sleep in our bed, and she gets in bed with us if we don't lock her somewhere else. She also behaves better when she gets lots of attention. Sleeping with us seems to go a long way with her.
The doctor told me using the inhaler that much is really bad. He also didn't want to put me on expensive allegy medication. Claritin and Singulair did nothing. I'm trying Zyrtec now, but so far, nothing. My ears are also starting to clog up.
Okay, so I took a break writing this, so it's been a few days. The Zyrtec didn't work. I'm now using a steroid inhaler that seems to help. If life wasn't so crazy, we could really clean out the room, vacuum, and dust it.
We've decided to keep her, though. We could sell her for a fair amount of money to a breeder, but we're not in it for the money, and I'm sure we can make it work.
